Senior Quality Technician

The Senior Quality Technician will serve as the quality lead for all production personnel on their shift. This person directly supports and impacts production through specialized laboratory inspections, troubleshooting of production inspection equipment, and leading the containment and initial analysis of suspect product.
Additionally, the Senior Quality Technician is responsible for maintaining the plant quality management system in an effort to ensure industry and customer certifications are maintained and ensures that all internal and external requirements are met.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
* Serves as the quality lead for production on assigned shift; is the go-to person for quality situations that arise.
* Trains production operators in quality subjects and ensures operators are trained in the proper use of gages.
* Analyzes and problem solves using specialized inspection equipment.
* Evaluates risk and makes decisions regarding product containment when non-conformances are identified.
* Performs preliminary investigations when quality incidents occur to enable root cause problem solving.
* Reads and interprets dimensioned drawings, instructions, etc. to determine if customer specifications and requirements are being met.
* Sets-up, operates, and troubleshoots all types of precision gages and inspection equipment used on production floor.
* Performs necessary inspections with specialized inspection equipment at the plant.
* Maintains systems for key quality management functions (e.g. gage calibration, document control, material disposition).
* Helps perform internal quality system and process audits and provides support for corrective actions and follow-up audits.
* Helps perform manufacturing process studies and documents results.
***Technical / Functional Skills:***
* Written/verbal communication.
* Basic Excel, Word, PowerPoint experience.
* Read/interpret dimensional part prints.
* Use of basic dimensional inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparator).
* Familiarity with automotive quality requirements (PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, TS-16949).
* Auditing personnel / processes for compliance to standards.
* Develop / write clear instructions for performing standard work.
* Train others in work procedures or methods.
**_Minimum Requirements:_**
High School Diploma with 5 to 7 years of manufacturing experience.
**_Preferred Requirements:_**
Associate Degree related to quality or manufacturing technology with 2 to 3 years of manufacturing experience.
**_Physical Requirements:_**
This position requires activities such as walking, stooping, bending; significant time on production floor and on feet walking. Significant use of hands and lifting typically over 10 lb but usually less than 50 lb. Stooping and lifting of gages, parts, etc. Hearing at a conversational level and typing on a keyboard.
